Welcome!

Welcome to my blog and webpage! Thank you for taking the time to visit my site and check out this blog, which I hope will be informative, insightful, and maybe even a little bit fun. When I was a teenager playing saxophone in my high school band, I would never have dreamed that music would take me as many places as it has or even that I would be here writing a blog.

When I was sixteen years old, I decided that I wanted to become a professional musician. At first, I had no idea what that would entail or even look like. But here I am years later teaching, composing, and conducting research about music. I’ve been extremely fortunate to work with colleagues who challenged me to become a better teacher and conductor as well as students who make the job worthwhile.

Like most musicians that I know, I’m very passionate about music and its role in our society and culture. I believe strongly in personal music-making and providing opportunities for students to explore their own musical creativity. It’s my hope that the musicians that I have the privilege of working with become better musicians, better creative thinkers, better artists, and better human beings by participation in my program.

Thanks again for taking the time to drop by the site and look around. Please reach out to me if you’d like to chat about music or composition, and keep on playing!

  1. Great website – your work is remarkable and so are you! Looking forward to seeing more about your music. Both my son and son-in-law play the saxophone.
